We have lizards - anoles. They eat meal worms. Worms turn into beetles. I never thought about how baby meal worms are made. Insects aren't my thing. But tonight the topic came up because two beetles were in the food dish of the male anole and were - as my son said "doing something funny on top of each other."
He's five and wondered what they were doing and what that "red thing" was. I had to take a look. I'm so naive regarding insects. I wasn't sure how baby beetles were made, but I didn't realize beetles had willies.
My five year old thought it quite rude that the one on top was poking his willy at the one on the bottom. He thought it tacky and show-offy because the one on the bottom clearly didn't have a willy.
Again, pressed for what they were doing, I simply responded, "Making more food for your lizards." This satisfied him, the beetles parted ways. End of discussion.
