Ms. Alkon spoke about her time is valuable and it should be worth something when it comes to telemarketers and the like. Well, my time is valuable. I paid a sitter to come so I could go LISTEN to an author; not a bunch of angry hecklers in the front row. They may have had a bone to pick with her, but how dare they waste my sitter time, gas, time I could be writing, designing or coding. They owe me $445 for the time of the evening. That is what it cost me to leave the house and not bring an income in for that time, plus the sitter, gas and my husband's time not working.
You know the phrase, "You can't fix stupid." It's true, but be a bit more aware at a public event, people are not there to hear how your mama taught you about the flies and vinegar and honey. No one attended that event to watch you get burning questions answered about society. We were there to hear an author's story, inspiration and make her book a bit more personal.
Get the book. It's fun. She's a hoot. I'm a new fan!

Thank you so much for posting this! I just found it on Google, and really appreciate that you not only came out to hear me and bought my book, but that you hired a sitter to do it!
I'm working on the next one, a manners advice book for every possible situation people could wonder about (that doesn't involve which fork to use or the proper use of a finger bowl in very fine dining).

I can't wait - please cover those tact situations - don't ask heavy women when they are due, etc. Thanks for stopping by, Amy.
