Today was a day of sloppiness, frustration and spinning. Not how I planned a Friday, but that's what it was. By 3:30 it was time to escape and take the family to the zoo. It was a rough start as I shook off the frustrations of my own careless work, inability to figure out how to make something work on a client's computer, etc. I was glad to leave the confines of my 6 x 6 office space.
Not only was it a warm evening at the zoo, it was a concert night. Parking was a challenge and lines for food were too. We had to maneuver around the place with a lot of back tracking to see the most important animals: everything in Africa, the tiger and the otters.
In between it was time to knock the day out of my head. Fresh air is the best when I don't have to deal with the service industry and crowds with too much wine in them. It was only 6 by this time, but they were gearing up for a concert.

Last train of the day! We were boarding it. We turned the camera over to our daughter and let the steam engine do its magic through the trees and the path to the Japanese and Rose gardens in Washington Park. It was perfect.

I reviewed the photos a few minutes ago. She captured our transformation from a tense family watching mom spin and staying out of her way - to a family having fun and celebrating the beginning of a weekend.
I'm grateful to her.
We were able to get to the zebras, giraffes, hippos and more. We even witnessed the zookeeper attempting to put the gazelles in their pens for the night. They didn't want to go to bed. Our children found this hilarious!
Our easy camera is still suffering from the effects of being dropped in the sand at Beachside. Focus is a tough go and the grinding sound as the lens goes in and out is just sad.
