Sometimes do you ever have a task to do that you avoid because you don't want to do it where you typically would do it? Get your minds out of the gutter - not those things.
I had started a few blankets for Binky Patrol (http://www.binkypatrol.org) and had them pinned, ready to complete. I really wanted to sew, but I didn't want to do it inside. It was a lovely day and I wanted to be out AND I wanted to sew.
This is where my appreciation for our collection of heavy-duty extension cords comes in. I had one the perfect length for the courtyard. Set up the card table, folding chair and machine. I was set to sew. The children got such a kick out of it they hauled out our camping chairs to join me.
I finished one before it started to sprinkle. OK - even I am not stubborn enough to sew outside in the rain. I cleaned up, but felt so much better combining the two things I wanted to do. I was able to finish a blanket for some child AND enjoy the fresh air since our house still reeks of garlic from last nights dinner.
Stir it up, try something unexpected and non-typical for a typical task. Putting a spin on it may add a whole new enjoyment to it. You may even want to do it more often. Give it a try.
One of the things I miss most from living in Laguna Beach is having my friend , Laurie over in the summer to sew out on the deck. We would don sunglasses, iced-tea or a glass of wine, and sun screen. We had many peaceful afternoons making binkies in a non-typical fashion.
