We have nearly wrapped up rebuilding my sad little 'puter. It's taken days. We seem to be stuck on Service Pack 3. D*MN MS! It should not take days to start from scratch. We treated ourselves to a sitter tonight and a movie AND dinner.
By day 4 of the computer saga we are at least laughing at it all. Having the back up drive has truly made it OK. I started the day yesterday searching my drive and did not initially find 10 years' worth off family movies. I was devastated. I sobbed as if there were a death in the family. The children came to my side. Little sweeties. They assured me we'd make new ones like the old ones because they remembered a lot of them.
Then, I found them in some weird directory, "My Videos." Good gosh! We all cheered and hugged. After that I realized that I also lost 150 fonts (not the stock type), email since February 28 and who knows what else. None of it mattered because I had my videos. The rest of the list was filled with minor hiccups that could be solved or recreated.
Tonight, Katie came. The children cheered. We cheered and fled. We really needed the time together, away from software and the house. Ok, away from them too.
We saw Wlll Smith in Hancock. It was so much fun. What a great escape movie. Go see it. After that it was on to Pastini - a favorite, a quick stop for produce and salmon at New Seasons and home again.
He's back at my computer fighting with MS. I'm here with you and heading to bed.
